The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted Turkmen – Uzbek political consultations. The delegations were chaired by Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Foreign Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov. Positive dynamics of interstate cooperation in political, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres has been noted during the talks. Important role has been highlighted in activation of Turkmen – Uzbek dialog of mutual visits on highest level. The sides reviewed the opportunities of expansion of cooperation under regional and international organizations especially under the UN and OSCE. It was noted during the meeting that systematic approach of two countries to the implementation of Agenda of Sustainable Development until 2030 gives positive effect to economic and social stability in the region. During negotiations, the sides noted the necessity of expansion of cooperation in the sphere of management of water and land resources. Visits on different levels for familiarization with potential of two countries in heavy engineering, education and tourism have also been considered. The Programme of cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan in 2020 – 2021 has been signed by the outcomes of political consultations.
