ast week, the capital’s “Ashgabat” Multifunctional Stadium hosted a closing ceremony of the month of mass sports activities and socio-cultural events under the motto “Health and Happiness”, held countrywide from April 1 to April 30 on the initiative of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov. The program of the large-scale sport action included scores of competitions, mass activities, thematic forums and conferences, which were held in the capital and regions. The competitions organized in the framework of the Month were not only beneficial for health of the participants, but also helped to discover many promising sportsmen who would represent our country in the international arena. At the stadium, the ceremony attendees were welcomed by students of the National Institute of Sports and Tourism of Turkmenistan, and our country’s renowned sportsmen. The awarding ceremony of the VI Nationwide Competition “Turkmenistan is a country of high spirit and good health!” was held during the closing ceremony of the Month. The program of the Competition included more than ten kinds of sport, and thousands of people, including work collectives, students, and schoolchildren took part in the events all over the country. The winners were presented with valuable prizes and presents. Following the results of the nationwide competition, the team of Ashgabat became the strongest one. Among the country’s higher education institutions, students of the National Institute of Sports and Tourism were recognized as the best. The team of the capital’s specialized school of the Ministry of Construction and Architecture of Turkmenistan was declared the best one among the specialized secondary schools. The team of Ashgabat became a leader among schoolchildren. Thousands of residents and guests of the capital, who had gathered at the stadium, witnessed a spectacular show with participation of sportsmen, pop singers and dance groups. Expressing gratitude to the head of state, the event participants proudly noted that mass sports activities had been organized on a large scale in Turkmenistan during the Month.
