President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a meeting with President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov who arrived in Turkmen capital for participation in the session of the Council of the CIS Heads of the States. Warmly greeting the Head of Kyrgyzstan, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that expansion of fruitful cooperation with neighbouring countries including Kyrgyzstan is one of priority direction of Turkmenistan’s foreign course. Having expressed gratitude for warm welcome, Kyrgyz leader highlighted that he is glad to visit Ashgabat, having noted historical and cultural similarity, which connects our countries, is the main factor for development of bilateral dialog. It was mentioned that Kyrgyzstan is interested in comprehensive improvement of cooperation with Turkmenistan and highly appreciates progressive foreign and home policy pursued by Turkmen leader. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the session of the Council of the Commonwealth Heads of the States would serve to expansion of trade and economic relations between the CIS countries. Continuing the meeting, the heads of Turkmenistan and the Kyrgyz Republic discussed number of subjects of interstate cooperation, outlined its main vectors, which include trade and economic sphere, energy, transport sector, cooperation between business structures of two countries. At the same time, the role of Intergovernmental Turkmen – Kyrgyz Commission in activation of beneficial dialog has been noted. Importance of development of scientific and educational relations and cultural dialog has been highlighted. Sports has been named as one of the direction of bilateral cooperation. The sides exchanged the opinions on number of current subjects of regional and global agenda that present mutual interest. In this regard, Head of the State Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude to Kyrgyz leader for support of international initiatives of Turkmenistan. In the end of the meeting, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Sooronbay Jeenbekov address the nations of two countries with wishes of peace, wealth and prosperity.
