A series of successful performances of Turkmen sportsmen in the international sport arena was carried on by masters of alysh belt wrestling and taekwondo (WTF). The two competitions replenished our country’s “medal box” with 15 medals – 2 gold, 7 silver and 6 bronze medals, which our sportsmen dedicated to spring Novruz Holiday. The International Alysh Belt Wrestling (“Grand Prix” commemorated to Bayaman Erkinbaev, a founder of alysh belt wrestling) was held in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek. It brought together some 100 strongest masters of the martial art from 18 countries – Russia, Turkmenistan, Belarus, Mongolia, India, Serbia, Uzbekistan, Georgia and others. Our sportsmen succeeded in winning 1 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze medals in close combats. Dinara Hallyeva has taken a top place on the medal podium. The sportswoman from the administrative center of Lebap velayat left winning chances to no one in the weight class under 66 kg. Her result is particularly impressive as she was the youngest participant in the tournament – recently Dinara has turned 17. Nasiba Surkieva (under 76 kg), Hangeldi Allakov (under 70 kg) and Pirguly Gurbandurdyev (under 80 kg) are silver medalists in our team. Among bronze medalists are: Zarina Abdyrahmanova (under 58 kg), Shirin Kubaeva (under 76 kg), Shatlyk Myradov (under 60 kg), Gylych Jumaev (under 90 kg) and Seidi Batyrov (under 100 kg). Some 100 sportsmen from more than 10 countries participated in the International Taekwondo Tournament (WTF) among juniors held in the city of Daugavpils (Latvia). Representative of Turkmenistan won 1gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze medals. Muhammed Rozyev (under 51 kg), who demonstrated his sporting proficiency in combats, became a gold medalist. Mekan Gurbanov (under 53 kg), Ata Melebaev (under 59 kg), Serdar Charyev (under 63 kg) and Rzaguly Toimyradov (under 68 kg) were silver medal winners. Islam Gurbanov (under 63 kg) won a bronze medal.
