By the request of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Speaker of the Mejlis Gulshat Mammedova received credentials of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to Turkmenistan Girma Temesgen Barkessa. On behalf of the Head of the State, the Speaker of National Parliament congratulated the diplomat on his appointment to responsible position, having wished him success in strengthening of friendly relations between two countries. Having expressed the gratitude for good wishes and conveyed warm greetings to the Head of the State from the government of Ethiopia, the Ambassador also addressed his best wishes to all Turkmen nation. Continuing the conversation, the diplomat was informed about the main vectors of home policy and foreign course of Turkmenistan, which is oriented to development of beneficial partnership with all interested states of the planet including the countries of the African continent. Special emphasis has been laid on large-scale changes aimed at further steadfast progress of the state and society. During exchange of views on opportunities of Turkmen- Ethiopian cooperation, the sides outlined trade, economic and humanitarian spheres among priority directions. Structure and activity of the Mejlis have been introduced to the Ambassador. Having noted that it is a great honour for him to represent Ethiopia in neutral Turkmenistan, the diplomat assured that from his side he would comprehensively support the activation of the interstate dialog. *** On the same day, Ambassador Extrordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ethiopia Girma Temesgen Barkessa was received in the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan where interested exchange of views on topical subjects of development of bilateral relations took place.
