Last week, a conference hall of the capital’s “Grand Turkmen” Hotel hosted a seminar entitled “International Electricity Trade and International Electricity Sale and Purchase Contracts”. Organized by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the seminar was attended by specialists of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan and the “Turkmenenergo” State Energy Corporation. An exchange of opinions was focused on the issues of modern world practice and promising areas of international cooperation in the electricity industry. As was noted, Turkmenistan and USAID attach great significance to further development of fruitful partnership, based on the principles of mutual respect and understanding. As stressed at the seminar, Turkmenistan, which has formed and continues to expand its reliable energy system with reserve capacities, is taking active part in creating the new international energy security architecture. It is also ready to increase supplies of electric power to foreign states. The country’s export potential is steadily growing thanks to the implementation of future-oriented plans and projects aimed at building new production facilities and renovating the existing ones. Special attention was given to the issues of normative-legal and economic development of the energy market and training of specialists in this sphere, including lawyers, economists and marketing experts, as well as to modern methods of world energy market exploration and analysis.
