Last week, the Turkmen capital hosted a Turkmen-American Business Forum, in the frames of which new approaches to the fulfillment of bilateral cooperation potential and the development of trade and economic relations, business ties and scientific and technical partnership were defined. Among those participating in the forum (held in the “Mizan” Business Center) were representatives of the key ministries and agencies of Turkmenistan, industrial structures, banking and scientific institutions, the country’s Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Union. The delegation of the USA included heads, experts and specialists of the well-known companies, as well as financiers and representatives of academic circles and the United States Agency for International Development. Participants in the first workshop discussed the modern conditions for the development of industry and production, the issues of adopting innovative developments of scientists and experts aimed to improve quality and competitiveness of products. The reports were presented by senior officials of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, representatives of the domestic sectors - users of industrial technologies, in particular, the “Turkmenhovayollary” State National Service and the Ministry of Water Economy. Chief executives of “Microsoft”, “Bell Helicopters”, “General Electric” and “Valmont Industries”, who had prepared the proposals on stimulating innovative activity in the partner dialogue, delivered their reports as well. The state and prospects of applying modern technologies and results of applied researches in different areas of the agro-industrial complex became a topic of discussion during the second workshop. In-depth reviews of the programs for development of Turkmenistan’s agricultural branches, in particular, livestock farming and veterinary, efficient use of resources and expansion of agricultural production, including by using resources of the private sector were presented for consideration by the guests. The third workshop was devoted to the role of finances in economic growth. As noted by Turkmen speakers, our country’s financial system is aimed at the socio-oriented economy effective development, production and private sector support, market management, achievement of the objectives of the state programs and reforms. At the same time, the national financial policy is closely connected with the globalization of modern economic relations between the countries. In the course of the forum, the leading American companies evinced great interest in all-round deepening the traditional cooperation with Turkmenistan. In this context, the guests confirmed the US business circles’ firm intention to extend their presence in the prospective Turkmen market and take active part in realization of the large-scale programs initiated by President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, whose constructive ideas aimed at well-being of all the nations of the world, had received wide international support. Businessmen of the USA also held a number of meetings with representatives of some ministries and agencies of Turkmenistan, including the oil-and-gas, and energy sector, transport and communications, the agro-industrial complex, the field of information technology, health care, science, education and financial sector. During the talks, special attention was given to the issues of implementing joint hi-tech projects capable of expanding the sphere of innovations in the Turkmen-American cooperation.
