The World Health Day, which is observed since 1950, is observed on April 7. The date was not chosen occasionally as on this day, the Chapter of the World Health Organization, which includes 194 state members at present, has entered into force back in 1948. The history of sport development in our country is counted by several dozens of years. It is enough to say that the first cycling club has been opened in Ashgabat back in 1908. After receiving independence, various sports including ice hockey, figure skating and curling, which are not typical for Asian region, started developing in Turkmenistan. Our sportsmen participate in numerous important sport tournaments of the planet and come back with various medals of almost in from all competitions. Turkmenistan has become a place of world and regional championships and our country hosted V Asian Indoor and Martial Art Games, which were held with triumph in Ashgabat, in autumn 2017. Thousands of modern sport facilities like multifunctional complexes, gyms with necessary training equipment, swimming pools, football stadiums and racing tracks already work in Turkmenistan. Therefore, April 7 is a special day for Turkmenistan where the Head of the State demonstrates by personal example that regular physical and exercises and sport strengthen body and spirit, improve will power of human and train self-discipline. This year, numerous captivating sport events will be held in the country on the World Health Day. Traditional mass cycling race, which includes all regions of the country, is one of the most important events among them. Following example of the Head of the State, 3,500 people in Ashgabat and 7,000 sport lover around the country will ride bikes to demonstrate their commitment to the principles of the healthy life style. Thousands of people will start their day with morning exercise, musical performances, climbing of the Path of health, different sport competitions in parks and squares, on modern avenues and in sport schools, gyms of multifunctional sport complexes and cultural clubs, in front of libraries, museums and organizations. Residents of the capital and velayats will be the witnesses of demonstration performance of art gymnastics and sport acrobatics, will take part in futsal and volleyball matches, will watch fights of boxers, judo and free style wrestlers as well as those who will demonstrate their intellectual skills and tactics in chess matches. Development of sport of high achievements and mass physical training movement as well as integrated activities for popularization of principles of health life style in Turkmenistan is under attention of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Number of sport sections grows every year, modern sport facilities provided according to the world standards are built, more people start doing various sports. Number of those who wish to take part in the events on April 7 in honour of the World health Day is growing every year. There is no doubt that excellent feeling, good mood and positive emotions will be the result of sport celebration.
