The Working group under the Constitutional commission on the development and generalization of proposals on amendments to the Constitution of Turkmenistan held session at the Mejlis of Turkmenistan. The Working group, which includes the deputies of the national parliament, representatives of ministries and departments, law enforcement agencies, political parties, public associations, scientists, as well as experts from the Institute of State, Law and Democracy, experienced specialists, regularly monitors incoming proposals submitted to nationwide discussion of the draft Constitutional Law “On Amendments and Additions to the Constitution of Turkmenistan”. During the meeting, the proposals received to date from citizens of the country, political parties, groups of enterprises and institutions, as well as public organizations and local authorities, were analyzed. At the same time, special attention was paid to international law and positive foreign experience on improvement of the Main Law. According to those speaking during the meeting, the initiative put forward by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to improve the Main Law of the country was widely supported. The draft Constitutional Law ""On Amendments and Additions to the Constitution of Turkmenistan"", published in the media in order to fully and comprehensively take into account public opinion, is discussed with the active participation of the people. The representatives of political parties and public organizations reported on the work done to increase awareness on the essence and significance of constitutional reforms, the content of the norms set forth in the draft Constitutional Law “On Amendments and Additions to the Constitution of Turkmenistan”, as well as on the collection, preliminary analysis and generalization of proposals. During the meeting, the participants outlined the tasks to increase the effectiveness of the Working Group.
