Turkmen – Afghan political consultations have been held in video conference format in the Foreign Ministry. Current condition and perspectives of interstate cooperation, which is successfully built on bilateral and multilateral base, have been discussed during online meeting. Taking opportunity, the Head of Foreign department on the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan expressed gratitude to Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for comprehensive support rendered to Afghan people in provision of peace and stability as well as to economic restoration of the country. It was highlighted that the Government of Afghanistan is interested in further strengthening of traditionally friendly relations with neighbouring Turkmenistan, which pursues creative and peace-making policy under the leadership of the President of the country. Having confirmed commitment to constructive dialog with the Islamic republic of Afghanistan, representatives of our country spoke about the willingness to continue rendering assistance to its southern neighbour. Discussing perspectives of expansion of interstate trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian relations, the participants of the meeting focused on important of activation of joint efforts for successful implementation of reached agreements. First, this is related to promotion of major projects of construction of Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan – India transnational gas line, which will be used for long-term supply of Turkmen gas to biggest countries of Southeast Asia and new high-voltage power line Turkmenistan – Afghanistan - Pakistan initiated by Turkmen leader. Special emphasis has been laid on the necessity of closer collaboration in this difficult time during interested exchange of opinions of current issues of international agenda. Mutual confidence that Turkmen – Afghan relations would be developed successfully has been expressed during the consultations.
