The state and prospects of multi-vector cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union were considered in the frames of the meeting with EU Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Turkmenistan, Diego Ruiz Alonso at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. One of the main topics of discussion was the proposal of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to ensure stable and reliable international freight traffic in emergencies. As noted, the European Union highly appreciates and supports the constructive international initiatives put forward by the Turkmen leader, aimed at developing balanced solutions to current problems the entire world community, as well as creating optimal conditions for sustainable development on a regional and global scale. In the context of the positive nature of bilateral cooperation, the meeting participants exchanged views on the implementation of joint projects and programmes launched in various fields. Energy and humanitarian sectors were specified among the priority areas of cooperation given the development trends of the modern world. Highly evaluating the position of our state pursuing the policy of openness for productive interaction both bilaterally and multilaterally, Diego Ruiz Alonso emphasized that the EU expressed the willingness to develop further cooperation with Turkmenistan in the framework of the goals and objectives of the new EU Strategy on Central Asia.
