Online meeting with WHO Regional Director for Europe, Dr. Hans Henri P. Kluge took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The meeting participants expressed satisfaction with the high level of partnership between Turkmenistan and the World Health Organization, including joint projects in various areas of modern medicine. Highly evaluating the visible successes achieved by our country in the health care system, Dr. Kluge emphasized that all of them testified to the social orientation of the policy pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the aim to ensure the comprehensive development and modernization of the health care system of Turkmenistan. The meeting participants discussed the measures to combat the coronavirus pandemic. In this regard, with the reference to the recent telephone conversation between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Dr. Hans Henri P. Kluge emphasized the importance of the Turkmen leader’s initiatives. The WHO Regional Director for Europe noted that the epidemiological situation in the world on infectious diseases in the field of public health continued to be tense. In this regard, it was emphasized that, with the assistance of WHO, Turkmenistan had established systematic work on prevention and diagnosis of diseases in accordance with international standards. The meeting participants emphasized that in order to further strengthen the national system for the prevention of infectious diseases, it was necessary to broaden efforts on sanitation and epidemic control.
