Round table session on discussion of the Draft Country Programme of cooperation between the Government of Turkmenistan and the UN Development Programme for 2021 – 2025 was held in the building of the UN representative Office in Ashgabat. The Country Programme is to become another important step toward strengthening and expansion of the partnership, which is built on long-term basis. Its implementation will support to efficient cooperation between our country and UNDP in achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, continuation of fruitful cooperation in different directions including social and economic, humanitarian sphere and other. The UNDP representatives expressed gratitude to Turkmen side for systematic work on development of the documents for further partnership and highlighted serious and responsible approach of Turkmenistan to integration of the SDGs into national programmes. It was mentioned that new Country Programme reflects the meaning and content of the SDGs, Turkmenistan was one of the first countries that adopted all 17 Sustainable Development Goals set out in 2030 UN Global Agenda on national level. The achievement of the goals is among the priorities of the government policy initiated and steadily pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. As is known, Turkmenistan has presented the first Voluntary National Report on fulfilment of the SDGs, which was highly appreciated by the UN, at the ECOSOC Political Forum in the Headquarter of the United Nations in July 2019. Having exchange the views on the main directions of the Country Programme for 2021 – 2025 and approaches to its realization, the participants of the meeting confirmed commitment of Turkmenistan and UNDP to constructive partnership.
