Deputy Defence Minister of Russian Federation, Colonel General Alexander Fomin took part in celebration events held in Turkmen capital on occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory. Speaking at the event in Ashgabat Memorial Complex ‘People’s Memory”, Russian guest noted that on this day, we celebrate 75th anniversary of the end of 1941 – 1945 Great Patriotic War – the war, which demonstrated heroism and fortitude of soviet people to the whole world. It was highlighted that is was soviet people who become reliable stronghold of entire humankind, the main liberator from brown plaque, May 9, 1945 is a day of our mourning, pride and joy with tears in our eyes, as it is sung in a song, day of our limitless gratitude to the Motherland defenders who defended our land from fascism. For this day, the fought and worked, went through tremendous challenges and became overpowering stronghold for the occupants in the ordeal of battles. They have stood against all hardship. They have given everything they could including lives but they have won. Many people went to war direct from school and left forever in the battlefields, having not known the joy of love and happiness of childbirth. “I’m dying but not surrendering!” – these words sound like echo in our hearts. We never forget courage and sacrifice of these people, that tremendous price they have paid for the Victory. Our forefathers, grandfathers and fathers fought arm-to-arm for the freedom and independence of the Motherland. A. Fomin noted than more than 300,000 soldiers from Turkmenistan took part in the battles in all fronts of war and went up to the Reichstag walls. 104 of them were awarded with the high title of the Hero of Soviet Union. We will always remember slogan “Everything for Victory!” as we have the second front in our rare where mothers, wives and even children were bringing this light day close with their selfless work. Industrial facilities and military hospitals were deployed in Turkmenistan; educational facilities were evacuated here and agricultural production has been increased several times. Care and cordiality of fraternal Turkmen people who received orphan children from soviet republics affected by war will never be forgotten. This is a bright evidence of consolidation of entire country facing cruel and merciless enemy. Having noted that unfortunately there are attempts to revive the fascism ideology in some countries, falsification of common history, idolization of traitors and review of the role of soviet people in the victory over the fascism, Russian Deputy Defence Minister said that our goal, our conscience and our responsibility as successors of winner warriors, to whom we owe that we exist, is to keep sacredly the memory of their feat and to protect true heroes. The honoured guest informed that combat banner of the 748th Riffle Regiment of the 206th Riffle Division of the 2nd Ukrainian Front is handed over to fraternal Turkmen people for eternal storage to keep historical memory. This is the banner that Berdimuhamed Annayev, the grandfather of dear Gurbanguly Myalikguliyevich, the President of Turkmenistan, was fighting under. We bow our heads in front of all veteran, the generation of winners. Now we live in peace, good neighbourhood and friendship and it is impossible to share the feat that our forefathers did, A. Fomin said. We will honour you all, dear veterans, and glorify the Victory, which we won, which is with us and will be the one for all of us, Colonel General Alexander Fomin highlighted.
