Draft National Action Plan for realization of National Strategy of Turkmenistan for prevention of violent extremism and combating terrorism in 2020 – 2024 was the subject of working meeting in the UN Regional Centre of Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia. Heads and representatives of the Foreign Ministry, Ministry of Finances and Economy, military and law enforcement agencies, Institute of State, Right and Democracy of Turkmenistan, structural divisions of the UN accredited in our country took part in the event. It was mentioned that National strategy developed with support of the RCPDCA was approved by the resolution of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on December 6, 2019 at the extended session of the Cabinet of Ministers. This document was developed taking into account world practice, including the main principles set out in the UN Global Counterterrorism Strategy, as well as recommendations of the Executive Directorate of the UN Counterterrorism Committee. Highlighting the role of our state in provision of security and sustainable development in the region, the participants noted that Turkmenistan is the first central Asian country that adopted National Strategy aimed at combating of this challenge. Actively supporting policy of peace and security, our state stands from the positions of positive neutrality. Cooperation in this sphere is carried out both in regional and global scale. This is indicated by constructive initiatives made by Turkmen leader. Following international standards announced by the UN and set out in the Constitution of the country, Turkmenistan strictly adheres to provisions of relative conventions, agreements and programmes of the UN. Draft National Action Plan reviewed at the session was developed for specification of certain measures for practical realization of the utmost objectives followed from mind-term Strategy. The document reflects such current spheres as migration, passport control, internet, financing of terrorism, social, economic and political aspect as well as human rights and supremacy of law. In the end of the meeting, the participants spoke for active cooperation in this direction.
