The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan organized an online meeting to discuss the aspects of the global pandemic impact of on the socio-economic situation in the country, including macro and microeconomic indicators. The representatives of UN agencies and international financial organizations, accredited in our country, were invited to participate in the meeting. Those speaking during the meeting emphasized that at present, Turkmenistan, as well as the entire world community, paid particular importance to prevent the negative impact of COVID-19 on the national economy. In this context, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov identified the development of operational and medium-term measures to maintain high growth rates of domestic production and increase the level of industrial self-sufficiency among the priority areas of the government work. The ongoing work allows ensuring the sustainable economic development. Turkmen specialists underlined that the indicators achieved for the first four months of this year had vividly proved the effectiveness of the measures taken. As emphasized, one of the key vectors of the state policy at the present stage is the strengthening of partnership with international financial organizations. Noting that global cooperation is the only way to overcome the consequences of the pandemic around the world, the meeting participants called for consolidating efforts to achieve sustainable economic progress.
