Current issues of agricultural development and production of food were the subjects of agenda of the session of heads of profile ministries of Central Asian states, including Turkmenistan, with participation of representatives of the UN Food and Agricultural Organization, which was held in online format. During online session, the sides exchanged the views on activities taken by agrarian departments of the countries in the region for reduction of negative impact of Covid-19 pandemic on food safety. Delegation of Turkmenistan presented the main directions of the government policy in agricultural sphere, which are aimed at fundamental reformation and modernization of the sphere, enhancement of potential of processing sector, provision of population with quality food production of own make. Positive practice of Turkmen side for prevention of entering and spread of coronavirus infection in the country by preventive measures for enforcement of sanitary and veterinary control at the state borders has been noted. In their speeches, Deputy General Director, Regional FAO Representative for Europe and Central Asia Vladimir Rakhmanin and Sub-regional FAO Coordinator for Central Asia Viorel Gutsu noted the necessity of protection and application of stable instruments of cooperation between agrarian and food sections of regional countries.
