In his address to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), David Lappartient informed on the decision of the UCI Steering Committee to award the Turkmen leader for his immense contribution to the development of world cycling. “On behalf of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), I express my sincere gratitude for your invaluable contribution to the development of sports and the Olympic movement in Turkmenistan. “I am pleased to inform you on the unanimous decision of the UCI Steering Committee to present you the highest UCI award and certificate for your immense contribution to the development of world cycling. “It would be a great pleasure for me to personally present the UCI award to you, but this is not yet possible due to the current situation in the world. Therefore, it is an honour for me to present you the highest UCI award during an online meeting on June 2, 2020”, David Lappartient says in his address.
