Regular video conference session on the level of Deputy Foreign Ministers of Central Asian countries and Afghanistan was held with participation of Special Representatives of the UN Secretary General for Central Asia, Head and personnel of RCPDCA, UN Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs, Peace Building and Peace Making Operations, EU Special Representative in Central Asia, the OSCE Director for Prevention of Conflicts as well as international experts. It was mentioned that such format of regional communication has recommended itself as productive platform for discussion of current issues of joint activity on regional and global levels. Special focus in the speeches was made on importance of regulation of the situation in Afghanistan only by peaceful, political means. In this context, it was highlighted that Turkmenistan would continue taking active part under the UN aegis in international efforts for restoration of neighbouring state and supporting the rehabilitation of its social and economic infrastructure. Review of the vision of post-crisis period by the Governments of Central Asian countries was one of the subjects of the meeting. Recommendations on possible role of the UN including the RCPDCA and other specialized structures in support of regional efforts have also been discussed.
