President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev had a telephone conversation. Welcoming each other, the heads of the two states reaffirmed the commitment of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan to the ties of friendship and fraternal relations based on historical ties, good-neighborly traditions and mutual respect. Congratulating President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on his birthday, President Ilham Aliyev wished him good health, longevity, new great successes in all his noble endeavors. Thanking for congratulations and kind words, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the fruitful nature and great prospects of the Turkmen-Azerbaijani relations, which had recently gained a new impetus for development. The leaders of the two states underlined that as a result of regular top-level meetings, the qualitatively new level of effective cooperation had been achieved. The equality, openness and trust inherent in Turkmen-Azerbaijani relations are the best basis for partnership and the key to successful implementation of joint initiatives. The leaders of the two states outlined the possibilities of cooperation in the field of energy supplies to European markets, in the field of communications, creation and development of transport corridors. Noting that our countries cooperate closely not only on a bilateral basis, but also within authoritative organizations, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude to the people of Azerbaijan for their support in promoting and implementing Turkmenistan’s international initiatives.
