Turkmen business people took part in the 84th International Izmir Exhibition that opened on August 25. Annually organized by the Turkish Ministry of Trade and the Izmir city’s Chamber of Commerce, the well-known and one of the largest fairs traditionally gathered more than a thousand exhibitors from about sixty countries. The fair is expected to be visited by more than one and a half million attendees. As Turkmenistan has acted this year as the partner country of the fair’s organizing committee, the delegation of our country came to the exhibition with various products, as well as a cultural program. During the exhibition’s opening ceremony, vivid and original performances were given by Turkmen bakhshi, dancers of known folklore groups and variety singers who added special coloring to the festive event. In addition to exposition activity, the fair’s agenda included numerous business meetings, including the ones with heads of economic institutions of Turkey and Izmir city’s authorities, with representatives of its business circles and heads of delegations participating in the event. In the frames of the large-scale show, the presentation was made of Turkmenistan’s trade and economic potential, the untapped potential of Turkmen business people who take part in the Izmir exhibition. For them, the fair is another opportunity to strengthen the existing and establish new relations with the international business community. It is also a good way for private businesses of Turkmenistan to get exposure to the Turkish market. The fair’s basic sections include healthcare and medicine, machine building, chemical and petrochemical products, IT and telecommunications, agriculture, agri-food industry, consumer goods, furniture, home appliances, construction sector and building materials, tourism. In many of these segments, Turkmen business people demonstrated an upward level, which allowed them not only to make their tangible contribution to implementation of the national import-substitution program in our country, but also to offer new products to foreign consumers, and play an important role in expanding exports. At this prestigious, multi-sectoral trade-exhibition event of the world level, the Turkmen exposition evoked active interest, first of all, by the diversity of national textiles, including fine ornamental handmade carpets and carpet articles capable to decorate any interior, as well as the clothes made in the spirit of traditional costume with wonderful hand-made embroidery. They were perfectly supplemented with beautiful jewelry items of modern zergers and other pieces of national decorative-applied arts, which always add special picturesqueness and expressiveness to Turkmen pavilions, making them notable on any exhibition platform among many stands of other countries. In the Izmir International Exhibition Center, the Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Union of Turkmenistan presented the foodstuffs produced by private farm enterprises, confectionery factories, producers of fruit juices, etc. Section of the home-made goods was represented by furniture, building materials, household chemicals, and other products. Turkmen products attracted strong attention of attendees and professionals by their quality characteristics, natural feedstock and ecological compatibility. In turn, during the exhibition, Turkmen businessmen studied in detail the technologies and latest achievements of manufacturers from other countries, exchanged experience with their foreign colleagues, and negotiated cooperation possibilities. The issues of the bilateral trade turnover diversification were actively discussed at the meetings with Turkish partners. In addition, members of the Turkmen delegation held negotiations with the General Commissioner of the World Botanical Exhibition “EXPO-2016 Antalya”, which were centered on participation of our country in the next year’s show to take place from April 23 to October 30 in Antalya city under the lively motto “Flowers and children”. The “EXPO-2016 Antalya” is expected to be attended by more than 100 countries and 30 international organizations. The event is another considerable platform for entering into business contacts, for perfecting the business-diplomacy instrumentalities of Turkmenistan necessary for intensifying the economic integration and getting exposure to foreign markets by domestic enterprises.
