The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea held online political consultations. Our country was represented by Vepa Hajiev, the Republic of Korea – by Kim Gunn. The meeting participants exchanged views took place on the key issues on the international agenda. In the context of discussing the prospects for interstate dialogue, the parties expressed satisfaction with the dynamics of its development. It was noted that regular consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries served as an effective mechanism for building up multifaceted Turkmen-Korean cooperation. As is known, the programme of interstate partnership in a wide range of areas was prepared on the outcomes of the telephone conversation between the Presidents of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea on August 28. In this regard, the emphasis was placed on the importance of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Korean Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation, the next meeting of which is scheduled for November this year. The effective cooperation of public and private structures of the two countries in the implementation of large projects in the oil and gas and gas chemical sectors of the economy was also emphasized. The importance of regular business forums and establishment of the Joint Turkmen-Korean Business Council, which is designed to update the trade and economic partnership, was underlined. The issues of cooperation with the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the process of joining the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) were discussed during the videoconference meeting. Discussing the aspects of cooperation in the sphere of sports, the Turkmen side expressed interest in studying the experience of the Republic of Korea in this area, including training of athletes under the guidance of Korean specialists. The parties called for strengthening cooperation in the field of public health, exchange of experience in preventing the spread of coronavirus. They also discussed the possibility of holding the second online meeting of the Turkmen-Korean working group on health in the near future. At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed mutual interest in the progressive development of the Turkmen-Korean relations.
