Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held online meeting with UN agencies and international financial institutions accredited in Ashgabat. The parties discussed key issues of cooperation and underlined the efficiency of joint plans and programmes, in particular, in the spheres of health, education and culture. In this aspect, the emphasis was placed on the Framework Programme for Cooperation in the Field of Sustainable Development between the Government of Turkmenistan and the United Nations for 2021-2025, signed in March this year. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan underlined the contribution of all foreign partners working in Turkmenistan, including the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator, UNDP Country Office, UNICEF, UNFPA, WHO, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, as well as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, in solving important socio-economic issues. The agenda of the online meeting included the aspects of the implementation of plans and programmes to combat acute infectious diseases, including timely vaccination, prevention and public awareness. In this context, it was underlined the necessity to join all necessary resources and expertise to overcome the economic consequences of the pandemic. The meeting participants also exchanged views on promoting cooperation in the field of digitalization, combating climate change, and preserving the world cultural heritage. During the meeting, the commitment of Turkmenistan to fulfill its obligations in the field of human rights and international humanitarian law was reaffirmed.
