Diversification of beneficial cooperation in wide range of directions was the main subject of discussion at the 8th session of Intergovernmental Turkmen – Korean Commission for trade, economic, scientific and technological cooperation held in video conference format. During the session, the sides have discussed the implementation of reached agreements as well as further activities for intensification of cooperation in political and diplomatic, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. The review reports, which were presented by the members of the Commission – the representatives of various ministries and departments of our country, have reflected the meaning of wide-scale programs of social and economic development initiated by Leader of the Nation Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, achievements and success of modern Turkmenistan, which is actively integrated into the world economy. Representatives of the Republic of Korea have highlighted an exclusive attractiveness of Turkmen market owing to the support of foreign investments and open door policy pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Big project with participation of Korean companies like construction of Sulphur removal from natural gas at Galkynysh deposit, modernization of Turkmenbashy Refinery Complex, construction of petrochemical complex for polyethylene and polypropylene production in Kiyanly, Balkan Region are examples of beneficial cooperation in opening of high-technology production facilities based on processing of local raw materials. The members of the Commission from Koran side have highlighted the willingness to continue productive partnership and to participate actively in important national and regional projects implemented by our country. In particular, cooperation in transport sphere seems to be promising taking into account the initiatives of Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for formation of multimodal transit and transport corridors in the North – South and East –West directions as well as modernization of the infrastructure of this sphere. By the way, considerable part of the public transport fleet of our country includes buses and vehicles of Korean make, which supplies would be continued in future. Mutual interest in continuation of cooperation in some other directions including in construction sphere, textile industry, communication, culture, science, education, sports, health protection, water management and other fields has been expressed. The sides have discussed in details the organizational issues of the 4th session of Turkmen – Korean Business Council, which was established by the initiative of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in Seoul in 2021. The proposals to establish the relations between commodity and raw material exchanges of two countries, to hold exhibitions, conferences, business meetings and forums have been presented. The participants of online meeting have expressed the confidence that all reached agreements would give new impulse to intensification of multidimensional Turkmen – Korean dialog in the interest of both states and their fraternal nations. Relative Protocol has been signed by the outcomes of the session.
