The first session of the Steering Committee for implementation of the Framework Cooperation Program in sustainable development between Turkmenistan and United Nations Organization for 2021 – 2025 has been held in the Foreign Ministry on December 16. Leaders and personnel of the Foreign Ministry, Ministry of Finances and Economy as well as representatives of more than 30 other ministries and departments of the country participated in the meeting. The UN Permanent Coordinator and heads of the UN structural division in Turkmenistan have taken part in the session. High level of multidimensional cooperation established between Turkmenistan and the UN has been noted, the importance of joint systematic work based on mid- and long-term plans and programs has been highlighted. The Framework of Cooperation Program in sustainable development between the Government of Turkmenistan and United Nations Organization for 2021 – 2025, which has been signed last March, is one of such programs. Speaking at the session, the UN Permanent Coordinator in Turkmenistan E. Panova has expressed gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for permanent attention paid to comprehensive development of strategic partnership with the UN and its main structures as well as active support in realization of joint programs and projects. During the session, the side have reviewed achieved success in realization of the Framework Program, which efficiency has been visually demonstrated by the presentations made by the representatives of the UNICEF, WHO, UNDP and UNFPA in Turkmenistan. Further, the sides have exchanged the views on the subjects of the Framework Program for coming five-year period. At the same time, special attention has been paid to development of the roadmap on its implementation. Presentations on the management mechanisms and implementation of the Program, strategy of sponsorship as well as monitoring plan and assessment of work has been given. The participants of the session have agreed to review joint strategies of mobilization of resources of the UN Country team in the first quarter of 2021 as well as recommendation and proposals on financing of the Framework Program and attraction of resources for implementation of the 2030 Sustainable development global agenda on national level. The Protocol of the first session of the Steering Committee, which reflected practical measures on implementation of the Program of cooperation, which is intended to achieve the Sustainable development goals, has been signed by the outcomes of the meeting.
