A working meeting held at the Ministry of Finance and Economy with the head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Ashgabat focused on the urgent issues and prospects for further development of long-term cooperation. Representatives of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank ""Halkbank"" attended the meeting. As noted, due to the forward-looking policy of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan has reached new level of development and integrates into the world economy. Our country has significantly expanded relations with international financial and economic structures, including the EBRD, in partnership with which a number of important projects have already been implemented. It was emphasized that the financial circles of Europe highly appreciated the effective measures taken under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan to strengthen and improve the national financial and banking sector, which allow maintaining economic stability and implementing large-scale socio-economic programmes. Discussing the plans for further cooperation, the meeting participants exchanged views on the prospects for building up bilateral relations, in particular, in the non-state sector. In this regard, the possibilities of allocating investments and providing consulting services for private financial institutions, small enterprises, medium and large domestic companies were considered. Expressing satisfaction with the cooperation with representatives of the non-governmental sector of the Turkmen economy, the head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development stressed that EBRD would continue to actively work with the private sector of our country in order to facilitate business development through financial and consulting services. Meeting participants exchanged views on the prospects for building up bilateral relations in the light of the fundamental transformations of the national economic complex in Turkmenistan under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, including on the further development of the non-government sector of the economy.
