Vice-premier, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov has held online meeting with Central Asia Regional Coordinator of International Migration Organization, IMO Representative in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan Zeynal Gajiyev.
During the meeting, the sides have discussed the outcomes of joint activity in 2020 as well as outlined priorities of further cooperation. It was noted that Turkmenistan is willing to develop cooperation with IMO including in the sphere of ordered and safe labor migration.
The plan of joint activities for current year, which includes such directions as “Countering Human Trafficking and Migrant Assistance” and “Technical Cooperation and Border Management”, has been discussed in details.
Cooperation focused on emergency situation was a subject of interested discussion. In this regard, Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction has been highlighted. In this context, actions of Turkmenistan on national level as well as for fulfilment of obligations following from the Global Compact on Safe, Orderly and Legal Migration have been presented.
