Within the framework of the visit of the Iranian delegation to Ashgabat headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif, consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Iran took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the talks, the parties discussed a wide range of issues of interstate cooperation in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

Particular attention was paid to cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, as well as cooperation on the platform of regional and international structures. Meeting participants exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan.

One of the topics of discussion was the Caspian Sea, including the analysis of existing legal documents and preparations for the 6th Caspian Sea Summit. Mutual interest was expressed in developing a dialogue in this direction.

As a result of the negotiations, the Programme of Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran for 2021-2022 was signed.
