Today, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received the Governor of St. Petersburg (Russian Federation) Alexander Beglov, who arrived in our country to participate in the celebrations on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence.
Having cordially congratulated the Turkmen leader on the glorious anniversary on behalf of the residents and the Government of St. Petersburg, the guest underlined the impressive accomplishments of Turkmenistan achieved under the wise and far-sighted leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the path of sovereign state development.
Thanking the guest for the congratulations and good wishes, the head of the Turkmen state highlighted the special importance attached to the comprehensive strengthening and expansion of the traditionally friendly dialogue with the Russian Federation, its largest regions and leading industrial and cultural centers, including the northern capital, with which Turkmenistan has long-standing trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties.
Noting with satisfaction the high level of cooperation achieved recently, the President of Turkmenistan and the Governor of St. Petersburg confirmed their readiness to intensify partnership in a wide range of areas. During the meeting, they discussed concrete steps towards implementing the agreements reached earlier, in particular, those outlined in the Roadmap for cooperation in trade, economic, scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian fields for 2020-2025, signed in February last year.
In conclusion, A. Beglov once again congratulated President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and all Turkmen citizens on the glorious anniversary of state independence, underlining that it is a great honor for him to take part in the great festive celebrations and share this great joy together with the fraternal Turkmen people.

Today, as part of the visit of the Governor of St. Petersburg, it was also held a meeting with Cabinet Deputy Chairmen R. Meredov and S. Berdimuhamedov to consider a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation.
Noting the impressive potential for further building up the mutually beneficial partnership in the most promising areas, the Russian partners expressed their interest in continuing to take an active part in the implementation of large-scale transformative programs initiated by the Turkmen leader.
