Today, a telephone conversation took place between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi.

Warmly greeting each other, the leaders of the two nations expressed satisfaction with the high level and fruitful nature of interstate relations based on long-standing ties of friendship, brotherhood and good neighborliness.

During the conversation, President Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi congratulated President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the successful holding of the presidential elections in Turkmenistan, which became a striking illustration of the unity and cohesion of the Turkmen society, its commitment to the principles of genuine democracy. As was noted, the wise policy initiated by the leader of the nation laid a solid foundation for the country’s further comprehensive development, its confident progress on the path of democratic reforms and creation.

Thanking for the congratulations and kind words, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov informed President Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi on the outcomes of the elections held on March 12. Noting that Serdar Berdimuhamedov was elected the new President of Turkmenistan according to the nationwide vote results, the leader of the nation said that from now on he intends to continue his activities as the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Milli Gengesh of the country.

The parties expressed confidence that the Turkmen-Iranian partnership would continue to steadily strengthen and expand, which is facilitated by the existing diverse potential. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran, which demonstrate the desire to continue the established constructive dialogue within the authoritative regional and international organizations.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took the opportunity to thank President Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi for making great personal contribution to the development of interstate cooperation.

Then the leader of the nation handed over the handset to the newly elected head of Turkmen state.

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran cordially congratulated Serdar Berdimuhamedov on his election to the highest state post and wished him great success in his responsible work.

Thanking for the congratulations and kind wishes, the newly elected President of Turkmenistan confirmed the commitment of our country to the course set by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the comprehensive strengthening of mutually beneficial relations with the neighboring states, including Iran, in all fields, including political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian areas.

At the end of the telephone conversation, newly elected President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi exchanged best wishes to each other and the fraternal peoples of the two countries.
