On November 26, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov met with President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili, who arrived in Ashgabat to take part in the Global Sustainable Transport Conference. The discussion was centered on the issues of furthering the Turkmen-Georgian cooperation and unleashing its untapped potential. Our country is pursuing the policy of broad international partnership both in the region and in the world on the whole, the Turkmen leader said. Speaking of the key aspects of the country’s foreign policy, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov has emphasized that Turkmenistan highly appreciated the support Georgia gives to the constructive initiatives our country advances in the international arena. The interlocutors acknowledged that the two countries’ advantageous geographic position and Turkmenistan’s grandiose plans to create transport and communications corridors are an important factor for encouraging the trade-economic partnership advancement, especially in the light of intensifying the global economic relations. In this context, cooperation in the field of marine transport was identified as one of the priority trends of cooperation. At the same time, the head of the friendly state has emphasized the importance of forming the road-transport infrastructure, including bridge construction. Stressing Georgia’s important role in integrating the Black Sea and Caspian Sea regions, the high guest reaffirmed his country’s readiness to be a reliable partner in the implementation of joint projects in the transport sector. Welcoming the by-now high level of partnership between the two countries, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov and President Giorgi Margvelashvili spoke in favor of furthering the constructive political dialogue and activating the humanitarian and cultural relations. The Presidents of Turkmenistan and Georgia also exchanged views on some urgent issues of the regional and international interest-based policy, having confirmed the countries’ reciprocal readiness to expand cooperation both in the bilateral and multilateral formats. In conclusion, Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov and Giorgi Margvelashvili expressed confidence in further successful development of the Turkmen-Georgian constructive dialogue which fully meets the national interests of the two friendly countries.
