On December 3, in the Turkmen capital, VI International exhibition-fair of cotton production of Turkmenistan and the international conference «Cotton production of Turkmenistan and the world market» started, organized by the Ministry Agriculture and Water Economy, the State Commodities and Raw Materials Exchange, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the country. A comprehensive welcoming ceremony took place in the showroom of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The participants and visitors of the agricultural show were welcomed with the concerts of dance-song art groups and bakhshi who performed fine national songs and melodies. Members of the government, heads of Mejlis Committees, ministries and departments, heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Turkmenistan, foreign visitors, representatives of public organisations and mass media took part in the ceremony of solemn opening of the exhibition. Representatives of almost thirty states, more than 70 foreign companies from Russia, the USA, China, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Switzerland, Japan, Singapore, India, Bangladesh, Iran, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus and others took part in the present review. Among them are our long-standing partners, largest manufacturers of agricultural machinery and specialised equipment for cotton producing and processing enterprises – the companies «Klaas» (Germany), «MaschioGaspardo» (Italy), «John Deere», «Valley», «Case» (USA), the Minsk tractor factory (Belarus), «Komatsu» (Japan), Uzagromashholding (Uzbekistan). The growing network of the companies’ service centres in the country’s regions is designed to provide a qualified servicing of the machinery. The American company «Lummus Corporation» - a supplier of the machinery and spare parts for ginneries, is the first-time participator of the exhibition. Noteworthy is the fact that on the vast demonstration ground, the organizers managed to arrange an improvised cotton field, to demonstrate the process of picking up cotton, its transportation, and packing the bales of cotton fibre ready for sending to the processing enterprises. Colourfully decorated pavilions and stands of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Economy, the State Concern «Turkmenkhimiya», State Association of Agri-Food Industry, the State Committee for Preservation of Environment and Land Resources evoked particular interest of the participants and numerous visitors. The scientific developments and students’ projects were presented by scientists and experts of the Turkmen State Agricultural University, institutes of the Academy of Sciences; the achievement in the field of selection of medium and fine-fibre cotton – by the Agricultural Scientific Research Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Economy. The extensive thematic section of the exhibition was devoted to the production of the leading enterprises of textile industry as one of the significant export-oriented branches of the national economy. A visual representation of the prospects for the international cooperation advancement was provided by the thematic expositions prepared by foreign partners. Among the exhibitors are the companies and enterprises not only occupied in the profile machine-building branch, but also the manufacturers and suppliers of various kinds of pest- and insect-control chemicals, fertilizers and bio-additives. Among them are «Bayer Group Science» (USA), «Agro Himprom» (Russia), «МАС GMBH» (Germany), «Hezret-aly-Akbar» (Iran). On display were also the stands of large company-carriers specialising in worldwide import-export of cotton, yarn and ready textile products. Within the exhibition, the exchange auctions were conducted on the exposition platform of the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange for cotton purchasing. Representatives of «Paul Reinhart AG» (Switzerland), «Çalyk Cotton» (Turkey) «Olam International LTD» (Singapore), «Carvon Commodities LTD» (Switzerland), «Attache Trading FZT» (Dubai) took part in the auctions. By results of auctions, the contracts were made for selling cotton for total cost over US $30,321 thousand. Worth of noting is participation in the event of representatives of the UNDP and the Ozone Centre in Turkmenistan – our country’s partners in solving urgent issues in the field of ecological safety and sustainable development, creation of the healthy and safe environment for the life and work of people. In the creative part of the exposition, Turkmen sculptors, painters, jewellers demonstrated their thematic works. In the frames of the exhibition-fair, in the conference hall of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the international conference «Cotton production of Turkmenistan and the world market» opened. The forum brought together the experts of profile departments and representatives of agi-companies, world consumers of cotton production, old and perspective partners of our country, enterprises of branch mechanical engineering, scientists-agrarians, and experts. In the papers presented at the conference, the focus was made on the systematic growth of the potential of the cotton-producing and processing branches, increase in the volumes of export of cotton production at the foreign markets. Then, the conference proceeded in the format of the two thematic sections which were opened at the Turkmen State Agricultural University and in the building of the Agricultural Complex. The sessions of thematic sections were mainly concentrated on the modern achievements and prospects for the cotton-producing and cotton processing industries advancement, the tendencies of the world market and advancement of our country’s cotton production to the world market. Foreign participants of the forum expressed confidence in the importance of furthering the interest-based cooperation with Turkmenistan. At the conference, consideration was also given to such focal issues, as the global food market advancement, increase of efficiency and productivity of the agro-industrial sector. In a solemn atmosphere, the participants of VI International Exhibition-Fair and conference «Cotton production of Turkmenistan and the world market» were presented with diplomas and certificates.
