On December 6, a telephone conversation took place between the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov and the President-elect of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Taking advantage of the opportunity, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov again congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev on winning in the recent presidential elections in Uzbekistan and expressed wishes of splendid health and much success in his important work at the highest state post. Truly grateful to the Turkmen leader for the congratulations and kind words, the President-elect of the Republic of Uzbekistan reaffirmed his country’s commitment to advance the traditionally friendly relations with Turkmenistan, which, based on the principles of understanding and trust, unbreakable ties of fraternity and good-neighborliness, year after year are filled in with a new content. The talks continued with a lively discussion of the by-now state and prospects of the Turkmenistan–Uzbekistan cooperation advancement in its key trends in the context of realizing the previously reached agreements, the priorities of the two countries’ socio-economic development, and the future-oriented plans. At the same time, the sides acknowledged availability of favorable opportunities for furthering the interest-based partnership in the trade-economic, transport and communications sectors, and in several other areas in the light of the existing multidimensional potential. During the telephone conversation, the two Presidents also exchanged views on the issues of the regional agenda. They confirmed the sides’ active position in the issue of consolidating the efforts for the sake of peacekeeping, stability and well-being.
