On December 7, the Exhibition Center of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan hosted the 21st International Exhibition and Conference «Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan-2016» organized by the State Concern «Turkmennebit» and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the country. This year, more than 70 companies from 20 countries of the world, as well as the fuel-energy sector of our country placed their stands in the Expo-center. The opening ceremony was attended by the members of the government, heads of Mejlis, ministries and departments, public organizations, heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the country, oil and gas industry experts, foreign guests, and others. The halls of the exhibition center featured extensively the products and services in the field of exploring, production and transportation of hydrocarbons, deep drilling, offshore exploration, and coastal infrastructure (necessary for the implementation of the Caspian projects), modernization of the existing and construction of new pipelines, strengthening of the oil and gas refining industry capacities, increasing of the oil and gas wells productivity. Particular attention was given to the ecological innovations and perspective developments in the sphere of renewable energy sources, to the increase of environmental safety in the enterprises. Among the participants of the forum are both the companies that have long been working in our country, and new companies, whose interest in cooperation with Turkmenistan is growing year after year. Naturally, the visitors’ particular attention was given to the stands of local state concerns «Turkmennebitgazgurlushyk», «Turkmengaz» and «Turkmennebit» and to a number of other industrial enterprises engaged in the development of rich oil and gas fields of the country. The first day, all exhibitors of «Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan-2016» exhibition showed great interest in the cooperation with our country, where the international business is encouraged and motivated, and the foreign investment are protected by a solid legal framework. The main thematic sections of the exhibition include: geological and geophysical studies - search and exploration of oil and gas fields; construction of inshore and offshore oil and gas wells - drilling of horizontal wells; development and operation of oil and gas deposits - methods of the output-favored impact; transport and storage of oil, gas and petroleum products, machinery and construction technology and operation of pipelines; pumps, compressors, pneumatics, drives, motors used in the oil and gas sector; oil and gas processing and petrochemistry; energy and power engineering equipment for the oil and gas industry; automated control systems and remote control of drilling, production, gathering, transportation, storage and processing of oil and gas; ecology (researches and developments, technologies, equipment, control and measuring equipment, modern systems of environmental monitoring, utilization and recycling of industrial wastes); labor safety, security and fire-fighting equipment, etc. The conference, traditionally held within the framework of the international exhibition, was attended by the delegates from the USA, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the CIS. Among them are the oil and gas industry experts, representatives of manufacturers, academic circles, and others. The agenda of plenary and panel sessions was focused on such topical issues, as the forecast of the global, regional and national oil and gas sector advancement; the prospects for oil and gas refining and petrochemical industry; the use of advanced researches and developments, technologies and methods for the development of our country’s oil and gas industry, etc. Currently, the experts estimate the total geological reserves of our country as 71.21 billion tons of fuel equivalent, of which 53.01 billion tons are the resource reserves of the onshore fields and 18.2 billion tons - offshore ones. A primary example of this is a super-giant (on the international classification) «Galkynysh» gas field, in the development of which large foreign companies participated. As was previously reported, the first phase of this unique gas field - the complex of plants on preparation of the marketable gas, has already been put into operation. In addition, implementation of this ambitious project is urgent, given the start of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) pipeline construction, for which «Galkynysh» will be the main source of raw material. Some reports were devoted to the conversion of fuel-oil residues and highly viscous types of oil with production of motor fuels and non-ferrous metals, production of the environmentally friendly high-octane gasoline. With regard to the processing of the gas, the future belongs to the technologies of the methane direct oxidative condensation with the production of olefins, methanol, chemical products with high added value. During the conference, the Turkmen side’s proposals were presented on furthering cooperation in the oil and gas industry with the world’s leading companies. It should be noted that in those days the next issue of the socio-political, scientific and journalistic magazine «Oil, gas and mineral resources of Turkmenistan» was published. Some of the articles of the specialized publication are devoted to the issues of advancing the country’s hydrocarbon resources; the trends are analyzed in the international oil and gas markets and the role of our country in the global energy integration.
