The Resolution of President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov has approved the Activity Plan on Turkmenistan’s chairmanship in the Energy Charter Conference for 2017. The Plan provides for variety of activities, to be held in Turkmenistan and abroad. The Organizing committee will be established in order to ensure the high level of planned events. As reported earlier, Turkmenistan had been unanimously elected as the chairman for 2017 during the regular Energy Charter Conference, hosted by Tokyo on 25-26 November 2016. The President of Turkmenistan had initiated the broad international dialogue, addressed at proceeding with energy security agenda. In this context, the United Nations had adopted the special resolutions on reliable and stable transit of energy in 2008 and 2013, which set forth the fundamental principles and approaches to development of constructive partnership in this sphere. Turkmenistan, progressively promoting cooperation with the major international organizations, several times hosted the multilateral events and forums, which put the pressing issues of energy cooperation on top agenda. It is worth to note the efficient partnership of Turkmenistan with the Energy Charter. In December 2014 Turkmenistan jointly with the Energy Charter organized the Ashgabat Forum “Reliable and Stable Transit of Energy”. And in accordance with the UN General Assembly Resolution, adopted during 67th session, Turkmenistan held the first international expert meeting on that subject matter. The dialogue had been followed by profile expert meetings, arranged under the aegis of the Energy Charter in Brussels, Belgium and in Beijing, China in 2015, as well as in 2016 in Tirana, Albania.
