On December 29, the head of state took part in the New Year’s event which was organized in the building of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan. There, the President of Turkmenistan was welcomed by the Chairperson of th National Parliament, Government members, Leaders of military and law enforcement agencies, khyakims of velayats and Ashgabat city. Congratulating the head of state on the well-liked holiday, representatives of the Government extended to the President their heartfelt wishes of strong health, long and happy life, inexhaustible power and energy. The participants highlighted that last anniversary year was filled in with important events in political, economic and cultural life of the country, remarkable achievements and considerable work victories of Turkmen people and became one of the bright and memorable years in modern history of Turkmenistan. Grateful for sincere wishes and the great work accomplished during the year, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov from the bottom of his heart congratulated the event participants on the New Year 2017 and, in return, wished the future year to be the year of realized hopes, success and large achievements. Then, with the congratulatory address of the head of state, the New Year’s show started with the participation of the President of Turkmenistan, the Government corps of the country, Turkmen and foreign diplomats. President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov noted that the current celebration, which united representatives of different states, is a symbol of friendship and brotherhood. As the head of state said, the year 2016 - the Year of Honoring the Heritage and Transforming the Motherland - was marked with the victories and successes achieved in different branches, in all directions of internal and foreign policy of Turkmenistan, aimed at protection of national interests and consolidation of world peace. It was mentioned that the year 2016 was a year of deep study of the national culture, history and their popularization in the world; and hosting V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat in 2017 would enhance our country’s sporting authority. The head of state expressed firm confidence that everything what was planned for 2017 would be accomplished; all the targets set would be achieved. One more time the President congratulated the event attendees and the entire people on the incoming New Year. Then followed the bright New Year’s show. Its program included the performances of art masters, music, songs and dances, which harmoniously dovetailed the folklore and modern popular genres. Special enthusiasm of the participants was evoked by the performance of President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov who sang the written-by-him songs. The heartfelt words and beautiful music of new songs imprinted themselves in the listeners’ souls and evoked the storm of applauses. The Miniature Art Contest was also held during the New Year event. Summing up the results of the competition and the ceremony of awarding the contest winners was the final part of the celebration show.
