The events of the past week have become another bright evidence of efficiency and sequence of the home and foreign policy of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, promotion of the reforms aimed at further increase of well-beings of Turkmen people, growth of the economic potential of our country and expansion of mutually beneficial international cooperation.
On April 8, the head of the state held an online working meeting to consider the course of seasonal agricultural campaigns in our fatherland.
As was marked, at present, necessary measures are taken to conduct the cotton sowing according to established terms as well as to operate agricultural machinery and equipment at their full capacity. According to the agro-technical standards, first inter-row cultivation is carried out in the fields where seeds have germinated properly.
Care of wheat as well as of potato and others vegetables and gourds is taken on in cultivated areas of regions. The work to increase the number of the cattle and its yield is carried out on cattle-breeding farms. In addition to it, on the margins of the season of cocoon production, contracts are concluded with peasants and they are supplied with silkworm eggs taking into account the natural-climatic conditions of regions.
The President of Turkmenistan drew the attention to importance of conduction of current agricultural activities according to agro-technical standards as well as adoption of preventive measures to control agricultural pests in the fields and on pastures.
He gave relevant instructions to observe the quality and terms of construction of different projects built on the sidelines of government programs and planned to be opened in the current year.
On April 9, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili.
During the meeting, it was noted that mutual relations, built on principles of equality and mutual respect, bear a traditionally friendly character.
The head of Turkmenistan and speaker of the Parliament of Georgia exchanged opinions on priority areas of interstate cooperation in the sphere of trade and economy, including in such sectors as energy, industry, public health services as well as transport and logistics.
A separate topic of the conversation was the strengthening of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
An emphasis was also placed on the availability of ample opportunities for establishing close contacts in the fields of science, education, culture and art.
Taking this opportunity, the President of Turkmenistan invited the head of the Parliament of Georgia to take part in the International Forum of Heads of State and Governments dedicated to the 300th birthday anniversary of the outstanding world famous classic Turkmen poet and thinker of the East Magtymguly Fragi, which will be held on October 11 in Ashgabat.
On April 12, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a regular online meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers to consider topical issues of social and economic development of the country.
These issues included further improvement of national legal system, on the margins of which drafts of new editions of the Civil Code of Turkmenistan, Law of Turkmenistan «On the cultural heritage of Magtymguly Fragi» are prepared as well as rise of the industrial potential of oil refineries of "Türkmennebit" State Concern, the state of affairs in the agro-industrial sector and maintenance of manufacturers of agricultural products with mineral fertilizers.
The proposal on introduction of the mobile software «Senagat töleg», intended for
Cashless transfer of funds by citizens for charity developed by "Senagat" joint stock commercial bank was made.
The head of Turkmenistan pointed out significance of activity of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care, with assistance of which persons who need guardianship regularly get help, humanitarian aids are sent to children of foreign countries.
Having approved the submitted proposal with a view of satisfaction of wishes of citizens for voluntary transfer of funds by means of digital systems to the account of the Charitable Foundation, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed him to carry out due work to that effect.
The information on preparation for the upcoming international events of transport sphere, exhibition activities and cultural events was also delivered.
So, results of activity of the specialised commissions and permanent work groups of the Organization for 2023, discussion of work programs for upcoming years, study of expediency of development of the draft of the Strategy of development of the Organization, professional training and education of workers of the railway system will be included in the agenda of the 38th meeting of the Conference of heads and responsible representatives of enterprises of railway transport of member countries of the Organization for Cooperation of Railways (OSJD), planned to be held in Ashgabat.
The work on preparation of the national exposition at the international exhibition «TIBCO-2024» which will take place in Bucharest (Romania) on May 16-19of the current year, is also carried out. It is planned to display production and services of various branches of the national economy as well as private manufacturers at the large-scale exhibition that will allow to open new export markets and expand trade-economic relations.
Within the framework of implementation of the state program for 2022–2028 for the careful preservation, protection, study of national historical and cultural heritage sites and attracting tourists, on the threshold of the Week of culture of the current year it is expected to publish in the form of the book «State Register of Historical and Cultural Monuments of Turkmenistan».
According to the agreements signed between the Ministry of Culture and famous centres of science of different countries, it is planned to continue work of joint archaeological expeditions, in particular, the Turkmen-Russian expedition at the monument of Gonur-depe, Turkmen-Italian expeditions at the monument Togolok 1 and at the fortress Old Nisa, and Turkmen-American expedition at the fortress of Dandanakan.
According to the program of events on the occasion of the 300th birthday anniversary of the great thinker and poet-classic Magtymguly, the international scientific conference «Fount of Wisdom of Magtymguly Fragi will be held on May 18.
President of Turkmenistan congratulated all our compatriots with the good news, which arrived from the headquarters of the United Nations - on April 9, of the current year, during the elections which took place on the margins of the session of United Nations Economic and Social Council, our country was unanimously elected a member of the Commission for Social Development for the 2025-2029.
Development of cooperation with the United Nations is one of the key areas of the foreign policy of Turkmenistan.
In particular, proceeding from priority positions of our country at the 78th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations, a number of proposals on development interactions of Turkmenistan with foreign partners in ecology, which were made at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, were prepared.
So, for implementation the Caspian Environment Initiative put forward by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, it is proposed to hold a round table meeting as the first step in the second half of April with participation of representatives of the Office of the United Nations Resident Coordinator and other international organisations operating in Turkmenistan, together with the Caspian sea Institute, Academy of Sciences, ministries and branch departments of our country.
The proposal on accession of Turkmenistan to Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), aimed at preservation of biodiversity of the planet, was also sounded.
Besides it, for consideration of the head of the state the proposal, concerning memberships of Turkmenistan to the Eurasian Regional Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EARAZA) that will promote exchange of experience and improvement of professional skill of experts, was also submitted.
With a view of preservation of biodiversity in our country and neighbouring territories, protection of migrating species of wild animals and strengthening of international legal basis, it is proposed to sign the Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of protection of fauna of the plateau of Ustyurt between corresponding ministries of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
The road map of initiatives of the youth of Turkmenistan in the field of climate change for 2024 within the framework of preparation for the Youth conference (COY-19) which will take place on the threshold of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) was also developed. This document is aimed at preservation of the environment and includes actions, connected with increase of ecological knowledge and scientific researches.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov marked that in Turkmenistan a great significance is attached to nature protection activity and maintenance of ecological well-being and instructed to continue regular cooperation with international and regional organisations in the above-named area.
Among other events of the week - telephone conversation between National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko.
Hero-Arkadag congratulated the speaker of the Upper Chamber of the Parliament of the Russian Federation with the anniversary and assignment of the rank of Hero of Labour of the Russian Federation for contribution to all-around development of Russia and taking an opportunity, expressed his deep gratitude for sincerely friendly and trustful relation to Turkmenistan.
Heads of the higher representative bodies of people's power of both states attached particular attention to further development of the interstate dialogue on a wide spectrum of areas, including energy, trade, transport and agriculture.
Topics of discussion also included inter-parliamentary contacts and partnership in the cultural-humanitarian sphere.
At the same time, it was underlined that the established direct contacts between Turkmenistan and the largest subjects of the Russian Federation raise the potential of interstate cooperation and assume new content.

National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made a working trip to Arkadag city where he familiarised with the activity of the International Akhal-Teke Horse Breeding Association and preparation for the national of holiday of Turkmen horse, which will be marked for the first time in the International Academy of Horse Breeding named after Aba Annayev.
He attached particular attention to issues of maintenance of high quality of projects of the second turn of construction of the city and their commissioning within established terms as well as maintenance of favourable ecological conditions there.
During his visit to the venue of events on the occasion of the national holiday of Turkmen horse and the international beauty show of Akhal-Teke horses, Hero-Arkadag was informed on the work carried out by the International Academy of Horse Breeding named after Aba Annaeva, conditions created for development and consolidation of theoretical knowledge of national methods of horse grooming and their application in practice by students.
As was informed, this year a large offspring was received. Taking into account that in the current year, which passes under the motto «Fount of Wisdom of Magtymguly Fragi», the 300th birthday anniversary of the great poet of the East Magtymguly is widely and solemnly marked, Hero-Arkadag named one of the new-born foals Shahyr.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people noted that education given by the Academy to students, should correspond to international standards and one should attach a great significance to issues of improvement of professional skill of teachers by creating appropriate conditions with a view of scientific research and development of national traditions of horse breeding.
It is necessary to take all measures for students to study deeply the history of Akhal-Teke horses, the current state and perspective areas of development of horse-breeding sphere, development of modern methods and world experience of conduction of horse races.
The conference «Promoting Peace: implementing strategies to strengthen trust between countries» was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, heads of diplomatic missions of foreign states in our country and international organisations, including the United Nations and its specialised agencies, the faculty and students of higher educational institutions as well as workers of mass media took part in the forum, which was held in the hybrid format.
As was marked at the conference, declaration of 2025 as International year of peace and trust at the initiative of Turkmenistan by the General Assembly of the United Nations is urged to direct efforts of the world community to solve arising conflicts by means of negotiations, promoting peace and security, sustainable development and observance of human rights.
Welcoming an active position of our country both in this area and in development of effective models of cooperation in political-diplomatic, economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres, speakers expressed necessity of expansion of co-ordinated interaction in issues, which today cause due concern of entire mankind.
One should further mark that the national team of Turkmenistan, which will protect the sports prestige of the country at the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games in Paris, received weight lifter D.Hasanbaev. He received the Olympic licence, having won the "gold" medal in snatch at the World Weightlifting Cup held in Phuket. Performing in the weight category to 102 kg, the sportsman in total lifted 392 kg: 187 kg - in snatch and 205 kg - in jerk.
In the conference hall of the hotel "Sport" of the Olympic village the media forum devoted to start of the international ice hockey tournament with participation of teams from Bahrain, Belarus, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Oman, Russia, Turkmenistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan in the Turkmen capital was held.
As was marked, the winter sports complex will host all matches of tournament and it provides necessary conditions both for sportsmen and all who will be involved in these competitions as well as for visitors and fans. 200 volunteers from seven higher educational establishments of the country were prepared. The international information centre in the Olympic village will facilitate for effective work of journalists.
These are the events of the past week, which have attested to successfulness of the constructive policy of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on transformation of our fatherland into a developed flourishing country, which provides most favourable conditions for realisation of the creative potential of people and its happy life.
