Today in the afternoon, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is on a working visit to Tehran, met with the Supreme Spiritual Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Seyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei.

Warmly and cordially welcoming the Hero-Arkadag, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei highly appreciated the level of centuries-old and dynamically developing in the current epoch ties between Turkmenistan and Iran, based on the principles of friendship, brotherhood, good neighbourliness and mutual respect.

Grateful for the warm welcome, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasised that today the Turkmen-Iranian cooperation is distinguished by its dynamics. As noted, the current working visit to Tehran is a clear evidence of the great importance attached by our state to cooperation with the IRI, which is among the main strategic partners.

During the meeting, the interlocutors spoke in favor of expanding productive cooperation, which has enormous potential and broad prospects in various sectors, including the cultural and humanitarian sphere.
