On December 10, 2024, upon the instructions of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Chairwoman of the Mejlis Dunyagozel Gulmanova received credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium to Turkmenistan Julien De Fraipont.

On behalf of the President of Turkmenistan, the head of the National Parliament congratulated the diplomat on the beginning of his work in Turkmenistan, wishing him success in his responsible diplomatic mission to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Turkmenistan and Belgium.

Expressing gratitude for kind words and warm welcome, the Belgian Ambassador conveyed warm greetings and best wishes of King Philip of Belgium addressed to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, as well as to the National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Hero-Arkadag.

During the meeting, which was held in a constructive manner, the Belgian diplomat was familiarized in detail with the priority vectors of Turkmenistan’s domestic and foreign policy, the most important of which is the establishment of comprehensive international cooperation for the sake of common interests.

The head of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan spoke about the large-scale reforms consistently implemented in the country for the well-being of Turkmen people. Special emphasis was placed on the social constituent of the state policy, under which modern kindergartens, schools, medical and scientific centers, the large sports and cultural facilities of regional scale, comfortable residential buildings are being built intensively throughout the country.

During the conversation, the sides exchanged views on the most important aspects of interstate cooperation, which is being successfully developed in bilateral and multilateral formats.

Special emphasis was made on the possibilities of intensifying the Turkmen-Belgian inter-parliamentary ties, the expansion of which will directly contribute to the intensification of political-diplomatic, trade-economic, as well as cultural and humanitarian dialog.

At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium to Turkmenistan Julien De Fraipont assured the head of the Mejlis that on his part he would make every effort to deepen friendly relations between the peoples of two countries.
