President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov got familiarized with the situation on the largest construction sites of Lebap welayat, including the largest Central Asian General Hospital with 836 beds under construction in the southern part of Turkmenabad. Medical complex with a total area of over 47.6 thousand square meters is being built by ES “Nahal”, a member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, and consists of two main buildings - a five-storey building with 676 places, which will house the main department of the hospital, and a three-storey building with 160 beds – for communicable disease . Construction and installation works have been completed, internal and external finishing and equipping with state of art medical equipment is currently on the way. The Head of State noted that the possibilities offered by this unique institution will allow to take patients from abroad, especially from neighboring countries. For example, Afghanistan. The President instructed to provide for matters connected with the stay of foreign patients in the new medical center. All offices and laboratories will be equipped with cutting-edge equipment, including PRS-laboratory, allowing carrying out ultra-precise analyzes and identifying the infection in its early stages. The same software package is operated in the capital Research Center for Maternal and Child Health, however in Lebap Hospital it has more advanced modifications. In the Central Asian region, such devices are extremely rare. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed to equip the helicopter pad for medical aircrafts on the roof of the complex. Medical City is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2017. Parallel to the medical buildings, construction is done for residential complex for health professionals, designed for nearly 200 families. In 2008-2016, Lebap welayat has commissioned 46 new hospitals, health centers and healthcare facilities with modern equipment. Measures to ensure compliance with sanitary norms and prevention regulations, cooperation with UNICEF and other international organizations, generally adopted in the country, allowed to put an end to such dangerous infectious diseases as polio, guinea worm, malaria and to get relevant international certifications. These measures have also allowed almost eliminating some other infectious diseases, said the Head of State during the conversation with the construction workers, highlighting the increasing importance of the facility, which they erect. Turkmen President made a tour over the city in a helicopter, having familiarized with the state of the buildings in Turkmenabad. Particular attention was paid by the Head of State to construction of road and railway bridges between Turkmenabad and Farab, which is now in its final stage. Railway bridge has a length of 1750 meters, automobile bridge - 1600 meters with a wide carriageway of 21.5 meters. The height of the bridge spans allows unhindered movement of river vessels. The helicopter of the Head of State has then flown over the construction site of a new airport in Turkmenabad, which will combine the passenger terminal, capable of handling 500 passengers per hour, with other terminals and new runways with a total length of 3800 meters, the air traffic control tower and starting dispatcher towers. From the board of the helicopter, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov got acquainted with the beautification and greening of Turkmenabad and inspected its housing estates and construction sites. On the way, Turkmen President familiarized himself with the ongoing work in the agricultural fields. Lebap welayat implements development projects in refining, logistics and infrastructure.
