Multifunctional velayat hospital – the largest medical centre in the country and the Central Asia is built in the southern part of Turkmenabad. Medical complex, built according to the Resolution of the Head of the State by Nahal Construction Association, the member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, includes two main buildings. The first one, five-stores building for 676 patients is the main general department of the hospital, while another three-stores building for 160 patients is infectious diseases department. Construction and installation works were accomplished there and currently, interior design and exterior finishing as well as installation of medical equipment are carried out. The territory of the complex is more than 47.6 thousand square meters. Visiting construction site of this large medical centre, The Head of the State mentioned that the opportunities of this unique facility allows receiving the patients not only from our country but also from foreign states, for example from Afghanistan. There are functional diagnostics, X-ray and radiology, traumatological, neurosurgical, ophthalmological, dental, ENT, urological, nephrological, pulmonological, surgical and laparoscopic, resuscitation departments, surgical rooms, laboratories, blood bank and other in the main building. There are children and adult, physiotherapy, surgical, resuscitation and maternity departments in the infectious diseases building. Relative laboratories and rooms for sterilization, ambulance service and dangerous diseases department are stipulated there. Multifunctional hospital will have all opportunities for high quality medical services to the population, early diagnosis of hidden forms of diseases and scientific studies of topical issues of prevention and treatment of numerous diseases. All departments and laboratories will be provide with advanced medical equipment, top modern hardware from the world - known manufacturers of medical equipment. Computerized diagnosis and laboratory test systems will be implemented for the best results in treatment process. PRS laboratory, allowing making super accurate analyses and identifying different types of infections at the early stages of disease, is one of such new novelties. There is similar programme complex in Ashgabat Scientific and Research Centre for Protection of Mother and Child Health but Lebap clinic has an updated modification. There are few of such units in the whole Central Asian region. It is planned to build helipad on the roof of the complex for involvement of medical aviation during the emergencies. The construction of modern living estate for medical personnel was started in July 2016. Today, living complex for public health system personnel for 200 families is under construction together with medical facilities. Six 4-store high comfort buildings with spacious three- and four-rooms apartments as well as social and sport facilities will be built. The construction of the medical city is planned to accomplish by the end of 2017. It will be another example of successful realization of the government programme “Saglyk” of the President of Turkmenistan, dynamic development of public health sphere. 46 new hospitals, houses of health and recreational centres, provide with modern equipment and hardware, were built in Lebap velayat in 2008 – 2016. The measures, undertaken in Turkmenistan for provision of sanitary standards and prevention of spread of diseases, successful cooperation with the UN Children Fund and other international organizations allowed eliminating once and forever such dangerous infectious diseases as infantile paralysis, guinea worm, malaria and receiving related international certificates.
