Today, the Civil Society Forum, held within the framework of the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs), began its work in the «Avaza» National Tourist Zone.

The large-scale event is attended by the UN Under-General-Secretary, the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, the Chairman of the National Centre of Trade Unions, high-ranking officials of international organisations, civil society, and landlocked developing countries.

It provides an opportunity for dialogue with high-ranking representatives of states and the UN, as well as with other stakeholders in order to exchange experiences and develop solutions, and shape the sustainable development agenda for the implementation of the Avaza Action Programme for LLDCs.

The successful implementation of this Programme requires a multilateral approach. Civil society is an important factor in ensuring sustainable development, offering innovative solutions and ideas, and helping to include LLDC priorities in the global political agenda on issues such as finance, trade, climate change, etc.

The main objective of the Forum is to create a productive platform for civil society, the scientific community, business circles and government agencies to identify priorities and establish partnerships, demonstrate examples of fruitful cooperation and successful strategies that promote the sustainable development of LLDCs, as well as to exchange innovative solutions and best practices.
