On August 5, 2025, a meeting was held between the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Konstantin Kosachev, who arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries. Issues of further development of inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries were discussed.

The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, having welcomed the guest to Turkmen soil, thanked him for accepting the invitation to participate in the International Conference held on the shores of the Caspian Sea.

K.Kosachev expressed gratitude to the National Leader of the Turkmen people and the President of Turkmenistan for the reception provided in accordance with the traditions of Turkmen hospitality, for ensuring the high level of organization of international events. He also conveyed words of greeting and good wishes from the Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matviyenko.

It was noted that bilateral inter-parliamentary relations are one of the main areas of cooperation between the two countries.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people thanked for the kind words and in turn conveyed his best wishes to the Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

Noting that Turkmenistan is one of the strategic partners of the Russian Federation, K. Kosachev stated that within the framework of the Parliamentary Forum, organized on the shores of the Caspian Sea, prospects for the development of cooperation in the relevant areas were considered.

At the same time, the importance of developing interparliamentary relations for the successful implementation of the tasks in this area was emphasized. At the same time, it is necessary to note the significance of the decisions taken at large-scale events within the framework of the International Forum.

At the end of the meeting, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and the Russian guest expressed confidence that relations between the two countries, including inter-parliamentary cooperation, will develop and be enriched with new content.
