Today, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov departed for a working visit to Mary velayat, where he reviewed the pace of seasonal agricultural work and the progress of the National rural program. The head of state held a working meeting with agricultural sector leaders to discuss the development of the agro-industrial complex and ongoing research in this area.
The socioeconomic development of the velayats is a priority of state policy implemented under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan. Currently, large-scale reform of the national economy, including the agricultural sector, is underway across the country. This, in turn, contributes to improved efficiency and living standards in the velayats.
In the era of the Revival, of the new epoch of the powerful state is underway in the Mary velayat, as in the country as a whole, along with other sectors of the national economy, large-scale reforms aimed at the balanced development of all agricultural structures are being implemented.
At the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers T. Atahallyyev reported on the work carried out by the grain, agricultural, and cotton research institutes of the country, as well as on measures taken to develop scientifically based agriculture and seed production, and on the progress of seasonal agricultural campaigns carried out in the country, particularly in the Mary velayat.
As noted, the successful implementation of these projects will make a significant contribution to achieving positive results from the hard work of domestic producers – dayhan as well as increasing crop yields, introducing innovative technologies and modern best practices into the industry, and ensuring food abundance in our country.
After hearing the report, the head of state noted the importance of diversifying the work of research institutes in the development of the agricultural sector of country, addressing a number of specific instructions to the Deputy Prime Minister in this regard.
In addition, during the working meeting, reports were presented on the ongoing agricultural reforms of country, comprehensive scientific work to improve the fertility of agricultural lands, and the testing of new varieties of various agricultural crops, where the latest technical achievements and advanced technologies are widely used.
There was also a report on the work of plant breeders to create high-yielding varieties adapted to the country's soil and climatic conditions.
Summarising the above, the head of state emphasised that great importance should be attached to the quality of research and development in the breeding and seed production of agricultural crops, and that effective study of advanced global practices and modern agricultural technologies should be undertaken.
Noting that issues of improving the qualifications and experience of scientists in this field should be a focus, the President of Turkmenistan gave a number of specific instructions to the relevant leaders.
At the end of the working meeting, the head of state, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, wished the participants good health, family well-being, and great success in their work.
