On December 19, 2025, as part of his working visit to Japan, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov had a meeting with Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan Nukaga Fukushiro.

Nukaga Fukushiro noted that he is honored to meet with the distinguished guest. The Speaker of the House of Representatives said that Turkmenistan is one of Japan’s key partners in the strategically important Central Asian region, expressing confidence that the current visit of the President of Turkmenistan will give impetus to rising bilateral relations to a qualitatively new level.

Thanking for the kind words, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of present meeting for further development of Turkmen-Japanese parliamentary ties.

It was noted that in recent years, the partnership between the parliaments of two countries has been characterized by stability and consistency. Friendship groups function between the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the House of Representatives of Japan, which serves an important platform for exchanging opinions on legislative matters and establishing cooperation in the humanitarian sphere. In this context, emphasis was made on the necessity of strengthening Turkmen-Japanese inter-parliamentary relations, given the strengthening role of parliamentary diplomacy in present time.

Nukaga Fukushiro emphasized his special fond memories of his meeting with President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, which took place in April of current year during the visit of the head of state to Japan.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan warmly congratulated President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the successful holding of the International Forum on Peace and Trust, dedicated to the 30^th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality.

At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Japanese Parliament Nukaga Fukushiro expressed confidence in the expansion of inter-parliamentary ties between Turkmenistan and Japan and exchanged wishes for good health and prosperity.
