On January 23, 2026, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with the Special Envoy of the President of the United States of America for South and Central Asia, U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of India Sergio Gor.
Expressing his gratitude to the Hero-Arkadag for the opportunity to meet, the guest noted the consistent development of cooperation between the United States and Turkmenistan and expressed confidence that a meeting with the President of Turkmenistan would give additional impetus to the advancement of the partnership.

Thanking him for the kind words, the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the development of mutually beneficial relations with the United States across various areas.
It was emphasized that the United States of America is one of Turkmenistan’s important strategic partners. Traditionally friendly relations between the two countries have in recent years been consistently and steadily developing on the basis of the principles of mutual respect and understanding.
In this context, the significance of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov’s visit to Washington in November last year to participate in the “Central Asia–United States of America” summit was noted.
During the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the successful development of relations between Turkmenistan and the United States, encompassing political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
