President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the priority issues of public life. Anticipating the business part of the meeting, the President made an appeal to the people of the country in connection with the Resolution of United Nations General Assembly, proclaiming 12th of December as International day of Neutrality. Having heartily congratulated all compatriots on this momentous occasion, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that this fact reiterated universal significance of permanent neutrality of our Motherland. The Head of State addressed the members of the Cabinet of Ministers with a number of instructions arising from this historical event. These include instructions to conduct an international conference based on this Resolution of the UN General Assembly, to establish lessons on the foundations of Turkmen neutrality in all educational institutions, schools and universities, and to take steps to raise awareness of society on this topic. During the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, macroeconomic indicators of socio-economic development of the country for 2016 were announced. As noted, the GDP growth was 6.2 percent. In the industrial sector, this figure increased by 1.1 percent, in construction - by 4.3 percent, in transport and communications sector - by 10.7 percent, in trade - by 14.1 percent, in agriculture - by 9.9 percent, and in the service sector - 10.4 percent. The volume of utilized investments at the expense of all sources of funding equals to the amount of 59.5 billion manat, with an increase of 0.4 percent compared to 2015. The average monthly wage at large and medium enterprises in the country has increased by 9.2 percent in comparison with the previous year. In products, manufactured in January this year, growth in comparison with the same period of last year is at the level of 3.1 percent. The volume of retail trade turnover in comparison with the same period of last year has increased by 16.9 percent. The set limits have controlled the prices for consumer goods and tariffs for services rendered to the population. According to preliminary results of the past month, 28 water and sewage treatment facilities, 62 buildings and social facilities, 782.6 thousand square meters of housing, as well as related engineering systems and structures are under construction as part of the new phase of the rural development program. The construction of 213 buildings and objects has been completed, 107 construction projects are ongoing. Having listened to the reports the deputy prime ministers on the results of supervised branches in January, the Head of State expressed his satisfaction with the results of socio-economic development of the country in the first month of 2017 and drew attention to the need to take comprehensive measures in order to preserve the positive dynamics in all sectors of the national economy. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed to consistently increase production of high quality export-oriented products and import substitution goods through modernization and diversification of the processing enterprises, including at the expense of private sector enterprises. President of Turkmenistan focused on the priority issues of preparation for the Asian Games 2017, demanding to bring more energy into activities in several areas. During the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov outlined the current trends of the state youth policy, and instructed to organize an international conference on the national spiritual heritage.
