In January, an agro-industrial complex of Turkmenistan ensured the growth of overall production by 4 percent compared to the last year’s same period. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources, the growth rate made up 105 percent, the State Committee for Environmental Protection and Land Resources of Turkmenistan – 104.6 percent, the “Türkmen atlary” Public Association – 106.6 percent, the State Food Industry Association – at the previous year’s level. Production volumes of flour, pasta, bread and bakery products, meat, milk, eggs, vegetables have been increased. The plan for budgeting of capital needs made up 143 percent. According to the results of 2016, compared to 2015, the largest increase in the domestic AIC was recorded in the production of rice – 91 percent, potatoes – 31 percent, wheat – 14 percent, cucurbits crops – 13 percent, vegetables – 7 percent. The country continues to implement policy for the livestock breeding development, herd expansion and increase in cattle productivity, satisfaction of population’s needs for meat, dairy and other products of the mentioned industry. In livestock farms of velayats, there were taken the necessary measures to conduct a warm and rich wintering of livestock, the fodder supply. Appropriate conditions have been created for breeders and shepherds. Along with this, preparations for lambing campaign are underway. On January 1, 2017, the stock of cattle in all farms in the country made up 2.3 million heads, sheep and goats – 17.7 million, camels – 126.4 thousand. In 2016, the production of meat on hoof was 16.24 thousands of tons and in comparison with 2015, it had been increased by 5.4 percent.
