On April 15, 2026, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic to Turkmenistan Martin Brook, who presented his credentials to the Head of State.
Expressing sincere gratitude for the time devoted to the meeting, the Ambassador conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the President of Italy Sergio Mattarella, to the Head of State as well as to Hero-Arkadag.
Congratulating Ambassador Martin Brook on his appointment to the high diplomatic post, the President of Turkmenistan wished him great success in his work aimed at further developing productive relations between the two countries. Taking the opportunity, the Head of State also conveyed his best wishes in return to the Head of the friendly country.

As noted during the meeting, Turkmenistan attaches great importance in its foreign policy to the development and strengthening of cooperation with the member states of the European Union, among which the Italian Republic holds an important place.
The two countries are successfully cooperating within such organizations as the United Nations, the European Union, and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe. A vivid example of this was the first Central Asia–Italy Summit held last year in Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the exchange of views on the bilateral cooperation agenda, the interlocutors noted that both countries have significant potential for expanding partnership in the areas of trade and economy, energy, transport and logistics, and agriculture. A clear example of this is the effective cooperation established with the well-known Italian company ENI, which is successfully implementing major projects in the country.
The transport and logistics sector was also named among the priority areas of interstate relations. Together with the countries of the region and authoritative international organizations, Turkmenistan is actively developing such promising transport corridors as North-South and East-West.
Education, science, and culture were also highlighted among the important areas of Turkmen-Italian relations. In particular, active cooperation is underway in archaeology and museum affairs.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the diplomat emphasized that he would make every effort to further strengthen the friendly ties between the two countries.
