In the era of the Revival of the new epoch of the powerful state, under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan is consistently implementing programmatic measures to develop water management, improve water supply, and strengthen the corresponding material and technical base. This is clearly demonstrated by the commissioning of new modern specialized facilities in Gokdepe etrap of Ahal velayat and the city of Ashgabat on July 1, 2026.

Improving the standard and quality of life of the people is a priority of Turkmenistan’s state policy. Large-scale programs adopted and successfully implemented in the country are aimed at achieving these goals. In this regard, ensuring a regular water supply to agricultural lands as a guarantee of bountiful harvests and food abundance has been identified as one of the main objectives.

Currently, as a result of systematic work in the area of rational water use, the water management sector is improving in the country.

For centuries, our people have treasured water. Today, these noble traditions are being honorably continued through comprehensive measures to modernize industry infrastructure, implement scientific advances, and adopt environmentally friendly water-saving technologies.

At the same time, the technical infrastructure of this important sector is being systematically strengthened. Significant financial resources are being allocated for these purposes.

...On this day, ceremony participants gathered at a new water-lifting station built in Gokdepe etrap of Ahal velayat. Among them were relevant leaders and specialists from the agro-industrial complex, as well as numerous residents of the etrap.

As noted in the speeches, the socio-economic strategy implemented by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov places particular emphasis on the rational use of water resources as an integral factor in the dynamic development of agriculture, environmental protection, and improving living standards. Our country enjoys food abundance, and a certain portion of agricultural products is exported. The large-scale transformations being fulfilled in the water management sector are a striking example of the productive implementation of scientific research and innovative technologies. This also demonstrates the unrelenting attention paid to the development of this sector in the era of the Revival of the new epoch of the powerful state. The measures being taken to apply advanced global practices in water management, as well as to ensure efficient and effective water management, promote achieving the goals of increasing the country’s economic potential and further improving the well-being of the people.

During the ceremony, valuable gifts were presented to workers who distinguished themselves in the construction of the new water-lifting station on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan.

Musical and song performances also took place.

Then, to thunderous applause from the audience, a symbolic ribbon was cut in front of the water-lifting station building.

Ceremony participants were shown a video about the specifics of the facility’s operation and were given the opportunity to familiarize themselves with its equipment.

The new water lifting station is supplied with specialized equipment manufactured by a leading German company. The facility’s capacity allows for an uninterrupted water supply to over 6,000 hectares of agricultural land.

A total of 39,789 meters of water pipeline were laid during the construction of the water lifting station, including 26,929 meters of new pipelines and 12,860 meters of new concrete collectors.

The introduction of advanced technologies, including a digital system, allows for the efficient and automated management of all processes.

To mark the commissioning of the new facilities, new vehicles and modern equipment were presented in a festive ceremony.

Ceremony participants expressed their sincere gratitude to the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero-Arkadag, and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the construction of the new hydraulic structure, which is of great importance for further improving the water supply to agricultural lands in the region.

The celebrations then continued at another recently constructed water lifting station in the etrap. Thanks to the coordinated operation of these two facilities, agricultural lands located in the foothills are uninterruptedly supplied with water.

In connection with the opening of the modern water management facility, ceremony participants emphasized that rational water use is one of the priority tasks set in the context of the development of the domestic agricultural sector, environmental policy, and the supply of clean drinking water to the population.

As noted, the careful use of water and other natural resources, the prevention of agricultural land degradation, and climate change issues are also key topics on the international agenda. In this regard, Turkmenistan regularly puts forward initiatives to effectively address global water and environmental issues for the well-being of current and future generations.

Rational use of water resources and provision of clean drinking water to the global population are included among the global Sustainable Development Goals. In this regard, Turkmenistan places great importance on constructive cooperation with the United Nations and other authoritative international organizations.

Inspired musical performances added vibrant colors to the celebration’s palette.

The culminating moment arrived with the cutting of the ribbon at the entrance to the administrative building of the new water lifting station, amidst general enthusiasm.

Then, the participants in the ceremony were introduced to the main operating characteristics of the hydraulic structure.

During the construction of the water lifting station, a total of 42,074 meters of water pipelines were laid, including 23,659 meters of new water pipes and 18,415 meters of new concrete drains.

The water lifting station, constructed by domestic builders, is equipped with modern and cutting-edge technologies.

Solar panels convert natural radiation into electrical energy, ensuring the uninterrupted operation of the necessary equipment used for irrigation. At the new station, the distribution of water intended for irrigated lands is regulated through special valves that are automatically controlled via a digital system.

During the celebration, the builders who distinguished themselves in the construction of the water-lifting station were presented with valuable gifts on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan.

The participants of the ceremony expressed sincere gratitude to Hero-Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar for his constant concern for the workers of the industry, for ensuring food abundance in the country, for creating ample opportunities for the development of the agro-industrial complex, strengthening its material and technical base, construction of new and reconstruction of existing facilities, as well as for the formation of additional water reserves in order to systematically improve the social and living conditions of the people.

On the same day, the ceremonial commissioning of a hydraulic structure built along the Karakum River bed took place in Ashgabat.

As noted by those speaking at the ceremony, Turkmenistan pays constant attention to improving the management and protection of water resources, creating additional water reserves, improving water supply to cities and villages, increasing the volume of reservoirs, as well as the capacity of rivers, irrigation and collector-drainage systems. For this purpose, relevant projects are being implemented, specialized equipment, and the latest equipment are being purchased for the industry. In this context, the implementation of the “Altyn Asyr” Turkmen Lake project is of particular importance. The construction of this reservoir, essentially a complex hydraulic structure, is intended to foster the successful solution of priority economic and social tasks, as well as issues related to environmental well-being in Turkmenistan and throughout the Central Asian region.

Currently, the material and technical base of the Fatherland’s water sector, including the capital’s water supply system, is being consistently strengthened and modernized. Along with this, water treatment facilities that meet the requirements of the time are being built and put into operation. This was confirmed by the opening in 2024, with the participation of the President of Turkmenistan, of a Bagtyýarlyk modern drinking water treatment plant in the capital with a design capacity of 150 thousand cubic meters per day, equipped with advanced technologies and know-how.

The new hydraulic structure, built by CAI Interbudmontaž by order of the Ashgabat city hyakimlik, is of great importance for further improving the domestic and drinking water supply of our white marble capital.

As emphasized, within the framework of extensive large-scale transformation programs in Turkmenistan, numerous facilities for various purposes are being systematically built. Through the widespread introduction of advanced technologies and developments, engineering and technical structures are completely modernized.

During the celebration, accompanied by colorful musical performances, its participants got acquainted with the specifics of the water management facility, the throughput capacity of which is 181 cubic meters of water per second, while all processes are controlled automatically. The gates of the structure open and close electromechanically, and monitoring of the water and the situation around the facility is carried out through a digital system. In addition, the corresponding control center is equipped with a diesel generator and is connected to the communication network of the Garagumderýa Association.

Along with a hydraulic structure and a control center, underground reservoirs, pumping and power stations were built as part of the project. This confirms our country’s integrated approach to the construction of social, industrial and technical facilities.

At the ceremony, the builders who distinguished themselves during the construction of the new facility were presented with valuable gifts on behalf of the head of state, which they received with sincere gratitude and great enthusiasm.

The participants of the celebrations once again warmly congratulated everyone on the commissioning of modern hydraulic structures, which became another significant event of the year “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan is the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses”, writing new bright pages in the chronicle of the Fatherland in golden letters. Those gathered also expressed deep gratitude to Hero-Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar for the large-scale activities being carried out in the name of ensuring the sustainable development of the country and the happy life of the people.
